Well I was excited yet concerned at the same time about strawberry french toast....but thought hm mm kinda like a Ham & Cheese Toasties really, so why not give it a go. So today I did just that!
First attempt was a dismal failure I burnt both sides yeah I know how do you do that well I got distracted tidying up my kitchen as I hate a dirty kitchen! Hence that's how I burnt the first side (as well as turning the stove up too high) and I think once I burnt one side I wasn't worried about the other. I will learn and I did, attempt 2 was a success except I didn't have any fresh strawberries!
OK so here it goes!
PS this is for one serve!
2 Slices white bread
1 tbs strawberry jam (or any other jam you wish)
1 egg lightly beaten
2tbs milk (lite or skim is fine)
1 tsp caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbs Icing Sugar, sifted
2 Strawberries sliced
Heat pan and spray lightly with oil, spread one piece of bread with the jam and slap the second piece on as if you were making a normal sandwich and cut the crust off.
Mix in a small bowl the egg, milk, sugar and vanilla extract then soak one side of the jam sandwich and then the other side.
Once is this done place the sandwich in the heated pan and cook till golden on each side approx 2 - 3 Min's (don't do what I did and cook it longer)
Once cooked place on place and sprinkle with Icing Sugar and sliced fresh strawberries.
Then dig in! very tasty and surprisingly filling so enjoy like I did!
